Jamekra Marsh knows firsthand what it means to face a turning point. Her own journey through recovery and rebuilding gave her a deep understanding of the barriers people face — and the power of having someone walk alongside you with dignity and belief.

That experience became the foundation of Second First Steps. Jamekra founded the organization with a clear conviction: that every person deserves a real second chance — not just a referral or a resource list, but a genuine partnership in rebuilding their life.

Under her leadership, Second First Steps has developed an integrated model of support that addresses the whole person — housing, recovery, employment, family, and long-term stability. Her vision is not just to help people survive their circumstances, but to help them build a life they are proud of.

Jamekra serves as Founder and President of Second First Steps. She is a passionate advocate for people in recovery and reentry, and a committed voice for equity and dignity in the systems that serve them.
